EVENGLADE
By Rebekah Niland

GENRE: Fantasy, Drama
LOGLINE:

When a mysterious, savage creature starts slaughtering her town, Kyra is left pushing her skills, education, and self to the limit as she works past injury to identify the beast before it kills her and everyone on the island she calls home.

SYNOPSIS:

KYRA EVENGLADE (25) is a beast-hunting fairy in her last years of apprenticeship. While training with her mentor, the well-renowned elf, THORN (40s), and Lycan-Elf teammate MOKOTA (25), she picks up reports of people and livestock being found around their town, slaughtered. After having a tense meeting with the stressed King, Kyra's team is determined to identify the creature. However, their time is shortened greatly when another attack happens even closer to the town, leaving the team with no option but to attempt to capture the creature before they can identify it. With only a few hunches, Kyra is left to set traps while her Mentor and teammate track the creature. The plan is quick to turn sour, leaving Kyra attacked, beaten, and down one leg.

Kyra spends time in the healer’s cabin, adjusting to life with only one leg and being overcome with self-doubt. To add to her woes, when she finally leaves the healer, she is informed by her mentor that the beast-hunting guild they work for is dropping her apprenticeship due to her new handicap. Kyra begins to spiral into an internal conflict of finding her new meaning in life while learning to adjust to her new way of living. In her moment of ultimate low, she begins to clear out all of her books and notes from her Beast hunting, letting her self-destruction and past traumas blind her to all other possibilities.

In the wind-down of her depressed mania, she crosses a page from one of her books that gives her new information on the beast terrorizing the island she calls home. Throwing her depression and broken confidence to the wind, she rallies herself to make one last stand against the creature. With Mokota and Thorn behind her, she stands as bait in one last attempt to trap the creature and bring it to its knees.
