My name is Randall Talton. I'm an American writer with a colorful and imaginative sense of people and all the things that surround me. Born and raised in Chicago, IL, my interest in film and the performing arts was influenced by the many family members who were actively pursuing a career in the arts. I was a student at the Center Theater for Working on Chicago's north side for several years and performed in productions at Chicago's Theatre on the Lake.
As a screenwriter, my work has been selected to be included in such notable film festivals as:
France International Film Festival
Art Film Spirit Award
New York Independent Cinema Award
Art of Brooklyn Film Festival
Chicago Independent Film Festival
Hollywood Just For Shorts Film Festival (short film)
Silk Road Film Awards-Cannes (Winner)
Toronto Film and Script Awards
I currently reside in Chicago with the hope of having my work produced for film and television audiences globally.
Artist Statement
My work as a writer carefully examines the nature of people—how we coexist with one another and what boundaries we will and will not cross in the name of what we perceive to be right or wrong. My screenplays deal with the complexities of the ever-changing landscape of social norms and how they challenge our value system in many areas, including sexuality and religion.
"The ultimate goal of all of mankind is self-gratification, but that does not make us selfish, simply well-adjusted to our surroundings."
Author Me... Randall Talton
What we do and say regarding a subject is usually far from how we truly feel. I try to examine these nuances of human nature in my work, as well as being mindful to place them in scenarios that we can all relate to in one form or another. Screenwriting, as well as any form of the literary arts, should be an honest and sometimes searing reflection of ourselves.
I love having the ability to canvas people in words that transcend race, sex, and time.
