Nearing the end of the Masters course in Writing for Script & Screen at Falmouth University, I am honing a portfolio of scripts that are diverse in genre, subject-matter and style. My ethos is to ensure that the under-represented are subtly included in everything I create. Disability generally has a 'tick box' approach when it comes to on-screen representation. Not so with my characterisations- people are developed with complexities and nuance, ensuring the watcher shares their journey when they are struck with illness or injury. For example, "Foxton Hall" is a Regency Romance with a twist that the pilot does not share: during the first season, one of the two main protagonists becomes injured. The 'accident' is from a classist attack and the knock-on effect is the discovery of 'invisible' disabilities that change the course of her life. A journey that the viewers will be able to share over this infinite SVOD serial. The initial pilot has already won two awards and favourable (useful) feedback which I intend to follow. I have the "Foxton Hall" URL and intend to write the novels over this coming year. With a background in Research for the BBC, Theatrical Production and UK & USA Performance, I can cast both an academic and a practical viewpoint on work and aim to hone narratives to encompass a broad platform of experiences. I enjoy collaborative work, but am a great self-starter, with numerous competencies in creating story worlds and complex narrative arcs. I am good keeper of secrets.
