About Juliette

Attracted by unconventional yet hyperrealistic universes, Juliette Joy began her artistic studies at Cours Florent French acting school, and in front of the camera, playing Gwen alongside Gaspard Ulliel and Freya Mavor in the mini-series "Twice Upon a Time" directed by Guillaume Nicloux for Arte and Netflix.

After moving to London to pursue her film studies at the London Film Academy, Juliette Art Directed +15 features, shorts, commercials, music videos, and series - she now focuses on writing and directing.
In 2025 Juliette joined a strong legacy of filmmakers at the American Film Institue Conservatory, as a Directing Fellow.

Her directorial debut, Let Me Ride, premiered at Oscar qualifying Austin Film Festival and won Best International Film at Concours de courts in Toulouse introducing her work to the festival circuit. She is currently developing a slate of features as writer/director, continuing her exploration of intimate off-center narratives.

Juliette likes to examine themes such as mental health and disability, breaking generational curses, sex workers’ rights, and climate urgency—through character-driven stories that unearth their emotional and societal undercurrents. She sees filmmaking as an invitation to step into the lives of others with openness and sensitivity, and a chance for audiences to connect with characters they may never have expected to.

As a director, she values open-hearted collaboration, embodied performance, and visual poetry.
Her goal is to create thought-provoking films that resonate long after the credits roll—haunting, healing, and undeniably human.
