After 30 years of pining for his lost love, a songwriter gets an unexpected second chance when his daughter announces she's marrying the son of "New Girl" - the woman who broke his heart and inspired his successful book about their brief but intense romance.
SYNOPSIS:
The story centers on Paul Clemens, a 60-year-old songwriter and author who becomes an unexpected YouTube sensation due to his book about a lost love from 30 years ago. At his daughter Dee's wedding, Paul unexpectedly reunites with Cassidy, his former flame and the subject of his book, who turns out to be the mother of his daughter's fiancé Matthew.
Over the course of the wedding weekend, Paul and Cassidy reconnect and revisit their past relationship, which ended abruptly when Cassidy left Paul without explanation. Their rekindled romance creates tension at the wedding, especially after Paul discovers Cassidy had an affair with Matthew's father Steve during their original relationship. This leads to confrontation and nearly derails the wedding.
Through flashbacks and present-day interactions, we learn that Cassidy left Paul because she was scared of the intensity of her feelings for him, while Paul had held back expressing his full feelings out of fear she would leave him like her other relationships. After some soul-searching and encouragement from their children, Paul and Cassidy finally admit their lingering love for each other and get a second chance at romance.
The story is interwoven with commentary from Paul's YouTube followers who have been invested in his tale of lost love, and concludes with the revelation that Paul has also been performing as a successful country music artist under the pseudonym Clem Parsons
