By Todd Heilesen

GENRE: Family, Comedy
LOGLINE:

A teenage boy’s new job as a paperboy helps him overcome challenges at school and form a common bond with his father, who flashes back to his own humorous and heartwarming experiences as a paperboy in 1981.

SYNOPSIS:

In PAPERBOY, Jack Winters works long hours to land the promotion of a lifetime, but at the expense of spending time with his fourteen-year-old son, Ben. With few interests beyond video games and sleep, Ben faces expulsion from high school due to bad behavior and poor grades. But that could change if Jack has his way. Jack encourages Ben to drop the game controller and become a paperboy, just as he had done over 40 years prior. A string of funny twists and turns ensue as Ben is faced with the challenges that come with delivering newspapers. Throughout the movie, Jack flashes back to his own experiences as a paperboy, offering a humorous look at what was hip in 1981.

PAPERBOY has mass appeal & profit potential, as both young and old can relate to this coming of age story and its focus on what used to be one of America’s most popular jobs, that of paperboy. The screenplay is set in Arizona, where the project may benefit from the new Arizona Film Tax Credit that took effect in January, 2023.
