DEADLY JOKES OF LITTLE JOSEPHINE

DEADLY JOKES OF LITTLE JOSEPHINE
By Aleksandr Rozhnov

GENRE: Thriller, Drama
LOGLINE:

An eight-year-old girl, paralyzed by an unexplainable fear of human contact, becomes the center of a string of "accidents" — until a psychologist discovers a terrifying truth hiding behind her innocent face.

SYNOPSIS:

Josephine is an eight-year-old girl living with her parents in a quiet suburb of Los Angeles. She looks like any sweet, delicate child — but something is deeply wrong. She fears people. Not in the usual shy way, but with a silent terror she herself cannot explain.

Her parents, Dorothy and Hogan, work in real estate and are often away, leaving Josephine in the care of extended family. But each temporary guardian meets a tragic end while alone with her. A fall from a cliff. A brutal dog attack. A fatal accident in an industrial freezer. Even her own mother dies under suspicious circumstances in the bathtub.

The police rule them all as accidents. But when a child psychologist is brought in, a disturbing truth begins to surface. Josephine suffers from a rare and severe psychological disorder — a condition that causes uncontrollable panic and violent reactions when she is around people. She doesn’t understand what’s happening inside her — only that people make her feel unsafe… and people keep dying.

Eventually, she’s institutionalized. Her father, who once adored and defended her, is devastated. Time passes. He finds new love, begins to heal. But when he learns his new partner is pregnant with a girl, the past rushes back in a wave of dread.

And he says just one thing:

"Either get an abortion... or I'm gone."
