A strict lawyer, obsessed with order and control, gets into an accident and wakes up with the soul of his mother’s cat. His life turns into an absurd chaos, and only the one he hated the most — his neighbor, an Indian man with magical abilities can help him.
SYNOPSIS:
Tom is a thirty-year-old lawyer from New Jersey who values order, cleanliness, and control above all else. He’s strict, reserved, and doesn’t tolerate anyone breaking his rigid rules not even his girlfriend, Angel, whom he treats coldly, denying her even the smallest emotional freedom.
His next-door neighbor, Jerry, is a Native American who practices traditional medicine, performs spiritual rituals, and decorates his yard with mysterious figures. Tom constantly threatens him with lawsuits and even deportation.
Another source of constant stress in Tom’s life is his overbearing mother, who lives an hour away but controls every aspect of his life, bombards him with calls, and imposes her will on his decisions. She is devoted to her beloved cat to which Tom is severely allergic.
One day, his mother comes to stay with him and brings her cat along, unable to leave it behind. This finally drives Tom over the edge. Desperate to rid himself of the animal, he captures the cat, but before he can get rid of it, Jerry performs a mysterious ritual and whispers something to the animal. As Tom is transporting the cat away, he gets into an accident. The cat dies, and Tom falls into a coma.
When Tom is revived, something bizarre happens: the cat’s soul has transferred into his body. He begins behaving exactly like a cat chasing his mother around, sitting still for hours, sleeping excessively, hissing at people in church, eating from a bowl on the floor, and going to the bathroom outside, instinctively trying to cover it up. His mother is on the verge of a breakdown, and his girlfriend leaves him, unable to cope.
One day, while wandering outside, Tom meets a young girl playing "quadrobear" a children's game where kids wear animal masks and crawl on all fours. Tom quickly bonds with her, but the girl believes they’re simply playing. When she realizes Tom genuinely thinks he’s a cat, she gets scared and stops seeing him, leaving Tom heartbroken.
His mother turns to doctors, but they find no medical or psychological explanation for his behavior. Tom must be fed from a bowl and won’t let anyone check his temperature unless it’s done "like a cat" rectally. Eventually, the doctors send him home, unable to help.
Things only get worse. His mother, on the brink of insanity, even begins to consider killing him to end the nightmare. In a last desperate move, she pleads for help from Jerry, the neighbor Tom despised so much. Jerry agrees, but on one condition: Tom must never again threaten him with deportation or legal action. She accepts.
After Jerry’s ritual, Tom regains his consciousness but has no memory of what happened. His mother decides to stay and live with him to ensure that he never again picks a fight with their neighbor.
