Journey of the Phoenix-Screenplay-Seeking Development Historical A Jewish mother and her two teenage daughters are caught up in the chaos and violence of early 20th Eastern Europe. War surrounds them, hatred seeks to hunt them down, and poverty is always on the doorstep. These three women embark on a journey where they face personal tragedy, enslavement and the horrors of the first World War. Demonstrating quick wit and armed with an old ornate sewing machine called the Phoenix, they turn a man who once considered them ‘dirty Jews’ into a fierce ally, use money made from the Phoenix to bribe their way out of certain execution and with heavy hears and tragic loss make their journey toward freedom.
