When his brother goes missing in 19th-century Charleston, SC, John Peeples fights a hostile crime ring, a mysterious woman and her insatiable appetite for death, and a justice system seemingly intent on overlooking her crimes.
Rhonda & Bobby Aycock hello. I'm curious about this one. From the way this logline reads, almost sounds like 2 movies. Which character is the view point character (if there is one)? Is it John Peeples or The Mysterious Woman? How does John fight the "hostile crime ring" and the "mysterious woman"? Her "insatiable appetite for death" has me intrigued. Is this because she's a vampire? Or just murderous?

Hi, Derek. Thanks for the thought-provoking questions. John Peeples is the protagonist who finds himself embroiled in a web of crime... the crime ring and the mysterious woman (Lavinia) are in partnership and they are terrorizing the Charleston neck area. "Lavinia" is inspired by a true story as she is well known in the Charleston area and rumored as being the first female serial killer publicly executed in America. A true psychopath, indeed, with a wayfarer house and a deathtrap bed... all the makings of a true crime thriller. :-)

I'm not sure this is any better than what you have, but I enjoy trying to work through loglines. "After John Peeples sets out to find his missing brother, he stumbles upon the sinister dark side of 19th century Charleston, SC when he uncovers a conspiracy involving a ruthless crime syndicate, a serial killer, and the rampant corruption of local government."
