I'm at wit's end on this: I've been trying to get work with networks, such as NBC, for four years since I left college. Despite building a strong resume in college and afterwards and trying to reach out to others within the company, I can't seem to break through to even get a phone interview. Does anyone else seem to have problems? If you're working for a network, how did you land your job?

Sometimes starting at the top (the networks) is a much more difficult path than starting smaller. You don't say what you do; "trying to get in with the networks" is vague. The path to show runner is different than the path to director which is different than the path to network exec.

My dream job would be working at a daily TV show, starting as a Production Assistant and working my way up. I fell in love with this while I was interning with G4's "Attack of the Show!" five years ago. I loved how it was structured and organized like any other job. Only unlike other jobs, the day ends with you producing a show seen by thousands. Then you go home and come back the next morning, ready to do the process all over again. Sorry if I was a little vague earlier.

Hi Will, I worked in Hollywood for ten years as a senior broadcast post-prod systems engineer and technical adviser to the Stars and creative producer / director teams. Also shot many live concert videos for these same actors etc who wanted to be rock stars... :-) I have a number of contacts at Motion Picture, TV and Independent Film entities. Currently working for Mark Cuban's AXS-TV and Live Sports programs. Send me a PM on Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/nicholaschasedigitalvideoproductions and I'll take a look at your resume'? Respectfully, Nicholas Chase - producer / director / writer / engineer Nicholas Chase Productions
Thank you Nicholas! I'll send over my information shortly.
