Introduce Yourself : Author and Screenwriter by Jayme Norrie

Author and Screenwriter

What if you killed your best friend and couldn’t tell anyone? What if you did it as an executive at one of the world’s largest global pharmaceutical / biotech companies and tracking down what, how, and why required analysis of patient, hospital, drug, medical device, lab, genetic, genomic, scientific and clinical data, healthcare insurance, and more to find the truth that needs to answer these questions in a matter of months, before the company fines out what you did? What if the solution required the meticulous design of an AI Platform, through which everyone could understand the truth of why, today, the US Healthcare system is killing people? What if what you were reading in a novel or seeing on a screen was a fast paced, complex roller coaster ride into the truth?

Hello and thank you for giving me the opportunity to introduce myself. As a former Big Pharma executive, I was blown away at some of the drugs we worked on. Through this work I partnered with every sub-industry in the healthcare system and then became the CEO of an AI Platform. I am also a storyteller who wants to empower anyone and everyone to become masters of an industry that is a million times more interesting than the sound bites that are mindlessly repeated and untrue. Its best example is that of a “hollow egg” – a delicate shell filled with air.

My name is Jayme, and I have been thinking of this story, developing authentic, complex characters, making notes and outlines, and seeing how this story could both enthrall and entertain for 20 years. I am a huge fan of Chritopher Nolan because he tells complex stories like Oppenheimer, Inception, Dunkirk, The Prestige, and the only Batman movies worth the price of a ticket in weblike complexity; the more you think, the more enriching ever layer is. I have a great deal to learn and am sure that the relationships at Stage 32 will bring all the Robert McKee, John Truby, Eric Edson, and Stephen King books I’ve used as a student, now ready to put them into action. While the golden rule of storytelling is to show, not tell, the route I am on is to listen and not talk to learn the craft of screenwriting – I’ve never even seen one! The story is relevant enough and has plenty of twists and turns to be made into a feature film. I’ve authored many stories “on the side” of my professional life, please help me understand how novel and script writing things are done and take off.

I have written a similar full feature as low budget and now am revising it to a higher budget. And I know a lot about new disoveries in your pharma industry. Add me.

Hi, Jayme Norrie. Welcome to the community. Here's a blog that'll help you navigate Stage 32 and connect with creatives and industry professionals: www.stage32.com/blog/how-to-successfully-navigate-the-stage-32-platform-...

The opening of your intro would hook me if I was an exec, director, etc. listening to your pitch. Here’s a blog for up-and-coming screenwriters I suggest reading: www.stage32.com/blog/the-questions-up-and-coming-screenwriters-need-to-a...

And I suggest reading scripts. It's one of the best ways to get better at writing scripts. You can find scripts here www.stage32.com/loglines and here www.nyfa.edu/student-resources/10-great-websites-download-movie-scripts.

And heads-up, production scripts have things that spec scripts (the scripts you write) don't have, like scene numbers and camera directions such as CLOSE UP, but some writers put camera shots in their spec scripts.
