Introduce Yourself : Hello All! by Gloria Salazar

Gloria Salazar

Hello All!

Hey everyone!

I’m fairly new here and just trying to start off on the right foot. I’ve been writing short stories since middle school and fell in love with screenwriting in high school. Right now, my script The Town is Broke—a small-budget crime thriller with heavy dramatic elements—is being considered for production outside of Hollywood. If anything comes of it, I’ll be able to share more details.

I also have a stage play, A Father for Abigail—a psychological drama about a woman with schizophrenia who kidnaps her own father over one bizarre weekend—which I’m currently shopping around at local theaters. Last month, I self-published a YA fantasy novel on Amazon, Quest for the Armor, and I have plenty of other projects in the works. Most notably, I’m working on a science fiction novel about an ancient race of beings that left Earth and have now returned.

Living in East Texas, I’ve found that networking with like-minded individuals is a bit harder than it is in places like Austin. On my husband’s recommendation, I’m branching out into the digital world.

Looking forward to connecting with you all—hope this gives you a little insight into who I am!

This is a fantastic, IY post, Gloria Salazar! Thanks for taking the time and sharing. It's a pleasure to meet you.

Congratulations on THE TOWN! Keep us posted on the progress.

I was taken by this line: Living in East Texas, I’ve found that networking with like-minded individuals is a bit harder than it is in places like Austin.

This is exactly why I started Stage 32. Community and relationships are everything in this business. We need community to motivate us to keep creating and relationships are the engine that drive the machine toward success. I hope you'll immerse yourself and contribute where you can. With your energy and perspective alone, you have a ton to offer the community. Cheers.

Hi, Gloria Salazar. Welcome to the community. Congratulations on The Town is Broke being considered for production, A Father for Abigail being shopped around, and self-publishing Quest for the Armor! All of your projects sound interesting!

Here's a blog that'll help you navigate Stage 32 and connect with creatives and industry professionals: www.stage32.com/blog/how-to-successfully-navigate-the-stage-32-platform-...

And speaking of networking, Sandra Isabel Correia talks about networking and how it can change the game for screenwriters in today’s blog. www.stage32.com/blog/how-networking-can-be-a-game-changer-for-screenwrit...

TBH, I’m still fairly new to the digital side of things, but I plan to contribute as much as I can. There’s still a lot for me to learn, but thankfully, I have an intelligent (and patient) nephew willing to help me navigate this new challenge.

I’m grateful to have found a site full of like-minded individuals—hopefully, some of my experiences will be useful, even if most of them have been strikeouts. I’ve always figured this is the kind of career where if you keep your skin in the game long enough, keep improving your work, and refuse to quit, eventually, something decent will break through.

Luckily, my husband is incredibly supportive and encourages me to follow my passions.

Maurice Vaughan

That's great that your nephew is helping you, Gloria Salazar. If you ever want more help, let me know. And if you ever have questions about Stage 32, let me or another Lounge Moderator. We have badges on our pictures. Or you could email support@stage32.com.

Walder Martinez

All the best, Gloria. We are all in the same boat here. Welcome aboard.

Amanda Toney

A Father for Abigail sounds really great! How do you find balancing playwriting, short story writing and screenwriting?

Jordan Smith

Hi Gloria Salazar agreed that remote locations can be a challenge for networking. I think this platform has been a good solution for me. If you ever have the availability I would look forward to seeing you at one of the Austin monthly meetups!

Leonardo Ramirez

Hey Gloria Salazar - welcome to Stage 32! So glad you’re with us. It sounds like me, you made the leap from writing books to screenplays. That is so awesome. I have very much loved the journey and it is one where we never stop learning. I really like the premise behind “A Father for Abigail” and hope that a local theater buys it. Please do keep us updated on that!!

Oswald Hunter

Welcome here and your husband had a solid recommendation ;)

The story for the stage play sounds great! Stay in touch and ask for anything. May not always be able to solve but at the very least point you in some helpful directions.

Sam Sokolow

Hi Gloria Salazar - it's awesome to see you here on IYW! You are in a community of like-minded creatives here at Stage 32. I love the sound of your sci-fi novel "a science fiction novel about an ancient race of beings that left Earth and have now returned." That also sounds like a great premise for movie screenplay.

Matthew Parvin

Welcome Gloria! Nice to meet you. Glad you're here.

Alexandra Stevens

Welcome Gloria Salazar I'im impressed by your creativity and your productivity. I'm fascinated by the idea of the ancient race that come back to earth. I wonder what they. make of it now?

Gloria Salazar

Amanda Toney (I don't know how to highlight someones name, sorry) I find that if I jot down my initial idea and let it sit for a bit, it kind of figures out what it wants to be—whether it's a short story, screenplay, or something else. It just sort of falls into place naturally, and the mix tends to balance itself out without much effort.

Maurice Vaughan

Hi, Gloria Salazar. Put @ in front of the person's name.

Ashley Renee Smith

Welcome to the community, Gloria Salazar! It’s wonderful to have you here. I’d definitely recommend becoming active in both the Screenwriting and Playwriting Lounges (https://www.stage32.com/lounge) there are so many creatives there who are always happy to connect, share advice, and offer support. Also, I encourage you to reach out to our amazing Success Team at Success@stage32.com. Let them know all about your projects and goals, and they’ll help curate a list of executives and resources that would be the best fit for you.

As Jordan mentioned, I also host a monthly meetup in Austin, Texas. If you’re ever in the area, it’s a fantastic opportunity to connect with other creatives in person. And if you ever want to tag someone here in the lounges to start a conversation, just type an “@” symbol ahead of their name! Excited to follow your journey!
