Cinema Residency 2026 is not only about screenwriting. It is about creating the conditions in which stories can truly take shape.
For five days, writers will step away from daily routines and enter a shared creative environment in southern Italy, where time slows down and attention deepens. The residency takes place in Puglia, close to the sea, surrounded by light, landscape and silence — elements that naturally invite focus, dialogue and reflection.
The programme combines intensive writing sessions, individual and group mentoring, and in-depth discussions led by James V. Hart and Christopher Vogler. Their guidance supports writers not only on structure and craft, but on the deeper emotional and thematic foundations of their projects.
Outside the formal sessions, the experience continues. Shared meals, long conversations, local food and wine, and time spent together allow ideas to evolve organically. Stories often find clarity not only at the desk, but through human connection and lived experience.
This balance between rigorous creative work and the richness of the place is at the heart of Cinema Residency. Writing is treated as both a discipline and a lived process, shaped by environment, relationships and time.
Cinema Residency offers a space to work deeply on a screenplay while engaging with the cultural and human texture of Italy — a setting where storytelling, craft and experience naturally intersect.
