While in Maine over the summer (2012), I created this documentary of an old-world wood shop that brings in apprentices and teaches them how to build boats. They take the design of a pre-Civil-War-era sea-faring vessel and put it to work. They use the same tools, the same plans and even the same lexicon created for the craft.
