First draft complete of the full-length screenplay The Deceit and Desire. Set in Edinburgh in the late 1880s, it follows the journey of Arthur Delaney who has his three children taken into care on the understanding that they will return when he has got back to his feet and able to attend their needs.​ In time, he discovers the children have been transported to Nova Scotia and so ensues a legal battle against the charity to have them returned, in an epic, emotional drama that takes him across the Atlantic in his desperate search.
