Here in Nairobi, the search for the perfect cocktail begins An Experimental project we did. In this film advert, the editing was influenced by Director #TonyScott. And so, this was a tribute to him because everything had to be directed with an edit in mind. Sound design mostly. The goal was to make it as ragged, rusty and fast-paced as possible. The colors involve sharp grained shadows, overexposed and saturated images. It is an edit driven directorial cut. Most of the footage was shot on the go. Meaning one or two takes at most especially on the streets - nothing was rehearsed. Same to sounds. Literally, we had to break all the film rules while enhancing them. I dropped and overlapped frames. Slowed everything while increasing the speed equally. All cinematography was done using freehand including motion. Cameras used were Canon C300 (Clog 3, 4k) and Mark IV with cinema lenses. As for the lighting, we did natural lighting. We could not do some things on the field hence, post-production served us well. Everything was done using Premiere Pro cc 2019 including graphics text animation. Color grading was done with After Effects 2019.
