Joe and 'Chelle live in “austerity” Britain. When they leave school, Joe doesn't make the grades for University, but 'chelle does. Joe and 'chelle meet at a DJ gig and Joe's DJ mate suggests they all meet up to party at the late set. Party time and all are having a good time until 'chelle collapses - bad designer drug from DJ man - all leg it except Joe who stays. Paramedic pronounces bad news and 'chelle is rushed to hospital accompanied by Joe. They become an item and move in together. They can't get work; living off benefits, life is bleak. The state is invasive, routinely using Drones to spy on the populous - particularly those on benefits. Joe and 'chelle feel like prisoners. In desperation, 'chelle writes to her University tutor for advice on how to get a job. He replies that, with Europe in turmoil with riots against austerity and unemployment and a surge in popularity of anti-austerity politics in Spain, she should go there and get under the skin of what is happening and then write a scoop - if it's good, she will get her chance of fame.
