Another Franz Marx film featuring Karen Zoid in the lead role. The story of a small town girl with big city dreams is timeless and overall the film was well received. Some scenes in the film were extraordinarily challenging. One in particular, required the reworking of Mozart’s aria ‘Queen of the Night’ from the Magic Flute. In fact, thematic elements from the aria were incorporated into several of the other orchestral cues - as was the melody of the movie’s showstopper song ‘Want as ek droom’. Here’s a selection of cues
