I/O Quintet Excerpt by Thanasis Deligiannis

I/O is a music theater piece that was premiered in Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ in February 2013, as part of the project An Evening of Today. The excerpt features a quintet, formed by a mix of jazz and classical musicians. Decided to be inclusive, we worked intensively all together on the material and the gestures I brought in the rehearsals, in a way that was rather oral than score oriented. The five parts of the piece are: -Audience entrance- I. Tennis (two tennis players, clarinet, violin) II. Percussion solo game (percussion) III. Quintet (harp, guitar, piano, double bass, percussion) IV. Bass Flute solo and "ballet" (bass flute, four surrounding performers) V. Dream Sequence (tutti) -- I/O Devised by Thanasis Deligiannis | Composer Roelof Pothuis | Scenographer George Dumitriu, Kieran Klaassen | Live Electronics Performers Nieuw Ensemble: Marieke Franssen | Bass Flute Ernestine Stoop | Harp Rob Dirksen | Double Bass Looptail: Anna voor de Wind | Clarinet Jellantsje de Vries | Violin Ryoko Imai | Percussion Kaja Draksler | Piano George Dumitriu | Electric Guitar Yvonne de Winter, Jaap de Vries | Tennis Daan Hazendonk | Video
