Success Stories: JUL'9 The disappointment of the void

The disappointment of the void

The posting title could seem a good title for book or a movie, unfortunately it's not. Like me, hundreds in here take their chances, and increase their efforts, posting their projects and dreams hopping someone with the right position and tools will make those dreams come true. Being consistent, resilient, it's necessary to anyone who use his/her creation skills to success,, but we all must to face the truth of what this is about. I have recognized and I am facing it, discovering that this is a hard narrow way to make it happen.

None real director or producer is going to look at our work because we don't represent none profit to them, they don't care about our work, only the money can build a bridge to them. Someone could say I am wrong because there are chances to participate in narrative contest, festivals, but when someone decides to get involved in this kind of events there's no guarantee that your work will be tested by a professional. However, pay in one of those to participate and for sure you will get an answer at the least, and something else if your work is really worthy to be taken in serious. Not even the payment can assure you success when the other part of the bridge is missing; the right connections.

We can't be blind, for sure we all are probably on the wrong way with the right dreams.

Hi Frank Farramola - I understand the frustration that comes with trying to get your creative works noticed. I think the frustration is misdirected though. The system is what the system is. We either choose to work inside of it or outside of it. Once a decision is made which route you will take (perhaps you will take both) then your strategy becomes paramount.

If you are using the same strategies most of the thousands of people are taking then you must add the math to your strategy and understand that there are a limited number of resources that hundreds of thousands of people are trying to access at the same time and in the same way as you. It would be illogical to think that your dream is going to come true over the thousands of others if you are applying a limited or narrow strategy to elevate your works.

Be as creative in your strategy as you are in your scripts - make up new ways to get in front of people, use a slightly different approach to what others have already done, employ multiple strategies at the same time.

Fortune favors the few but if you want to be one of those few you must focus on what TO DO, not lament that what you are doing is not working. The path continues to narrow the further along you get and there is a level of commitment most are not able to sustain but that is the price of admission for almost everyone.

oh man, I get it Frank. Sometimes it sucks and it feels like there's no more hope. I've had panic attacks when doors closed because I was so afraid another one wouldn't open. Maybe that's sharing too much. Keep it up, you will find your way. You love this work for a reason, don't let that go.
