Screenwriting : The day your screenwriting services are no longer needed. by Bill Brock

The day your screenwriting services are no longer needed.

I recently finished the book, “TALES FROM THE SCRIPT: 50 Hollywood Screenwriters Share Their Stories” and it is a definite Must Read. Tons and Tons of delicious tales. Attached is one of my favorite stories from chapter 5: “What’s Yours is Theirs.” Ah! The visual landscape of finality. Anyone care to share a similar story to the one I’ve attached? If you have had work produced, what was that last day like? Handing in final pages? Any last-minute notes to consider and follow? Did the working relationship end on good terms or bad? Do you wish to work with said producer/executive again? If so, why?

Enjoy the weekend… preferably with raspberries and crème.

Hey, Bill Brock. I've had work produced. They're micro-budget projects I wrote for indie producers and directors way back, and some of the projects I wrote are still waiting to get made. All of them ended on good terms. I wasn't sad or upset when the projects ended. I was happy because the projects were finished. And sometimes I worked with the producers and directors again.

Great news. Maurice Vaughan !! Good to know that you've had work produced and completely enjoyed the process. Here's hoping you celebrated with a HUGE bowl of raspberries!!

Thanks, Bill Brock. I've also worked on a lot of ghostwriting jobs over the years, but I can't go into detail about them. I still ghostwrite, but I've been shifting my focus to spec scripts. Hope you sell your scripts and they get made!

Maurice Vaughan From Ghost Roach to Ghost Write. Sounds like a solid plan. Thanks again, for the kind words. I promise not to be greedy. Representation and one produced script is the goal for ‘25. I have script reads (WHERE’S GRACE? and HORROR-FEST) + 60 minute Zoom meeting with a manager on Tuesday Also waiting to hear back confirmed Zoom meeting time with a VP of Development at New Regency Studio. He received a copy of WHERE’GRACE? Also sent a written pitch of GRACE to an additional producer. So, staying busy and trying to close a deal.

You're welcome, Bill Brock. I might turn Ghost Roach into a feature script or pilot. Hope the Zoom meetings and Pitch Session go great!
