Screenwriting : Positive feedback. by Jason Green

Positive feedback.

I’ve been taking some time to sit with the feedback coming in for my first-ever script, The Bushmen, and honestly — I’m feeling proud of how it’s performing.

BlueCat just sent their analysis, and it echoed a lot of what I’ve been hearing from other competitions: strong dialogue, authentic voice, vivid character work, grounded tension, and a lived‑in world that feels real. CWA highlighted the same strengths, and even their structural notes lined up with what I already knew — this project is built as a prestige limited series, not a traditional episodic pilot. Once I started framing it that way in submissions, everything clicked into place.

And in the middle of all that, The Bushmen picked up its first laurel from WRPN — a small but meaningful milestone for a debut script.

No complaints about the notes. No frustration. Just gratitude and momentum. It’s been encouraging to see the work resonate across different readers and rubrics, and it’s given me even more energy as I continue refining the larger slate.

Still early in the journey, but it’s a good feeling when the work starts speaking for itself.

Curious if anyone else has had that moment where feedback lined up with what you already sensed about your script — or where a note suddenly clicked and gave you new momentum.

Jason Green That’s a great place to be especially when the feedback aligns with what you were already sensing about the material.

I think those moments are important because they build trust in your own instincts. External validation helps, but when it confirms something you already felt about the story, it gives you a clearer direction moving forward.

Also, reframing it as a prestige limited series instead of a traditional pilot sounds like a smart shift that kind of clarity can really change how the work is received.

Congrats on the laurel as well that first one always hits differently.

Congratulations, Jason! It’s such a great feeling when feedback aligns with your instincts—it’s like the story is finally speaking back to you. Love hearing how The Bushmen is resonating across different readers and competitions. Excited to see how it continues to evolve as you refine it
