Producing : How Will VEO 3 Change Filmmaking? by Sandra Isabel Correia

How Will VEO 3 Change Filmmaking?

The rise of AI in filmmaking is no longer a distant future; it’s happening now. With Google’s new VEO 3, the filmmaking industry has access to AI-driven video generation that offers cinematic realism, advanced physics, and even native audio integration. But how will this tool reshape the industry?

One of the most exciting opportunities? Using Google Maps to build AI-generated film sets in any location. Imagine scouting and visualizing scenes in Paris, Tokyo, or Mars, all from your desktop. No travel, no expensive set construction, just pure creativity at your fingertips.

Could this be a game changer for indie filmmakers? Will this help studios cut costs, or does it present new challenges? How will AI-generated locations compare to real-world authenticity?

As producers, your perspective matters. Are we entering an era where AI-enhanced filmmaking revolutionizes the industry? Or do we risk losing some of the artistry/jobs that make cinema so compelling?

I would love to hear your opinion.

Arthur Charpentier

No, it won't help the small film business in any way, because right now everything is decided by advertising. and advertising is available only to large corporations and film studios. and it will repeat the situation with 3D graphics. ordinary specialists will be fired and replaced by AI specialists, as happened with practical effects specialists who were replaced by 3d designers.

Maurice Vaughan

Hi, Sandra Isabel Correia. I agree with Arthur Charpentier. And it's going to be so easy for people to make AI movies that the market will be oversaturated with them, but ultimately, I don't think it's going to have a huge impact on the industry, because a lot of people aren't going to watch AI movies, so filmmakers, studios, and companies will stop using AI to make movies. I won't be watching AI movies, and I know a lot of people (people in the industry and audiences) who won't be. I don't find AI movies attractive. AI is quick and easy, but it looks terrible, and it can't come anywhere close to what writers, directors, actors, etc. can do.

Morgan Aitken Ipg

Just to be obtuse here, I have to disagree with Arthur Charpentier ; advertising revenue is available to anybody who has an audience, and that already includes social media influencers, and they're like. Indie productions are stuffed full of product placements and endorsements, it's kind of one way they get funded and get publicity to boot.

But I wholeheartedly agree with Maurice Vaughan ; the market is saturated. Simply adding more bells and whistles to user generated content isn't going to bring in an audience. And quite frankly, and this is probably a personal opinion, I think people are getting tired of AI generated content, regardless of what it is. people want to connect with people, they want to be inspired, they want to be entertained, they want to see something new and creative. What it comes down to, is really all about the story.

And money, but of course!

Artificial intelligence really kicks ass in the videogame market. And it's easy to see why, gamers are creating their own storylines in the games they play. That is what makes them fun!

It's all about the story!

Sandra Isabel Correia

Arthur Charpentier, Thank you for your perspective. I agree that designers will be replaced, but this will most likely require them to learn new techniques or AI in order to work in both ways. I believe that this change game will always be on the other side of evolution. Regarding the advertisement, I don't have enough knowledge to answer you. I use AI for answering questions and creating posters, but for my short film's official poster, I hired a graphic designer rather than AI. :) I prefer traditional :) Thank you Arthur :)

Sandra Isabel Correia

I also agree with you, Maurice Vaughan. That happened to my short film. We're editing, and someone wanted to experiment with AI on a specific scene. Of course, they did incredible things, but they all appear fake in traditional scenes, and we only tried to play. I agree with you and will be like this: AI will be a fake Louis Vuitton, while Louis Vuitton will always be the original. We will have a market for both. Thank you, dear friend.

Sandra Isabel Correia

Haha Morgan Aitken IpgI love it when you're obtuse. I understand your advertising defense, which makes sense to me. There will always be a market for both because advertising wants to sell regardless of how. I totally agree with you, Morgan. AI is incredible in some businesses or areas, but I don't believe it will replace stories because stories are always very personal, whereas AI is not. Thank you for stopping by, my friend. :)

Morgan Aitken Ipg

I love that analogy between real and fake Louis Vuitton, Sandra Isabel Correia ! It's why I am now learning to fly a drone, or actually 3 of them. Well two of them are cute little retail things to spot for a camera platform drone, crikey, it's like a flying lawn mower, (which one really don't want to crash, especially with a cinecam onboard). But, frankly, no mater how you slice it, nothing does water and waves like an actual ocean! Or that expensive, luxurious feel of real Louis Vuitton.

Sandra Isabel Correia

That’s the symbiosis between reality and illusion Morgan Aitken Ipg :))) I love that you are learning to fly a drone WOW :D The actual Ocean will be the Ocean :)) Tell me, you want to shoot with a drone?

Morgan Aitken Ipg

Sandra Isabel Correia ! We're still hammering out the legal drudgery so I can't be too blabbermouthed at this point in time, but the gist of it is shooting a risky ocean crossing from a tiny boat. Footage goes by satellite to LA for post. It's an unscripted (which is a misnomer) reality series that lays the goundwork for a documentary, and ultimately, a feature film or limited series.

Sandra Isabel Correia

I love that Morgan Aitken Ipg, and specially because I feel it's a big challenge for you and your team, :) I am crossing my fingers for you all to succeed and make it happen :)) Good driving! ;)

One of the concerns I believe if heard correctly is resolution. If you need to get the "1080p" resolution (which is basically for the big screens) there seems to be restrictions, therefore it can produce good images and videos for the home screens, social media, Ads including trailers and so on.

It can be used to greatly enhance storyboarding, which is extremely important for long and feature films, considerably aiding with cinematography and editing.

However other aspects to consider as mentioned in comments collectively.

Jack Binder

AI is coming hard and fast, to deny it is wishful thinking. Here's an article from Variety on Lionsgate's collaboration with Runway. It describes their intent to re-package Lionsgate's library into "new" content. Likewise Runway has made a deal with AMC Network. The changes will be profound and immediate.

Sandra Isabel Correia

There are limitations Eon C. Rambally, and thank for sharing them with us. I believe will have its own audience and it’s good for us to be aware of it.

Sandra Isabel Correia

Thank you for sharing the links and Lionsgate’s intentions Jack Binder. As you say very well, “the changes will be profound and immediate” and it’s inevitable. I still think we must be aware of it and make our best choices. Nothing will be the same :)

Sille Larsen

Such a cool share, Sandra! You always bring up the most thought-provoking topics. The idea of instant film sets is mind-blowing — so many creative possibilities, especially for indie projects. But like you said, it makes me wonder what we might be giving up in the process. Curious (and a little nervous) to see where this all goes! <3

Sandra Isabel Correia

Thank you, Sille Larsen :)) I like to bring different topics to promote our thinking. We are together on this journey and my best advice for this challenging seasons is to be balanced:)) Thanks for sharing my dear friend.

Some clarification that needs to be noted. You can also generate the 1080p video, with audio.

When viewed the info. video again, I have to confirm this.

Elmare Hendricks

Sandra Isabel Correia I enjoyed the wisdom nuggets that was shared, and really it has been a worry of mine, the AI , how this will impact filmmakers in the Industry.

Sandra Isabel Correia

I have the same questions Elmare Hendricks, but also I think we need to adapt for the challenges that’s AI will bring to the future.

Patryna Goosby

Hi , thanks for sharing. So many of us are asking these questions. We definitely can see the pros and cons of AI. It definitely has many excited and others afraid. Which is understandable. I definitely look forward to using AI more, but I also want to connect with other people and keep them employed. So I desire a balance of both real people and AI If that’s possible lol

Patryna Goosby

P.S. Is this your video? Is this your channel? this video and new AI abilities is so amazing. I just subscribed. I felt led to open Stage 32 the app. I said one notification and I haven’t been on here in a long time. Your post was the Secondamazing post I seen today. Thanks For sharing
