Film editing is a melding of moving pictures and dynamic sound that directly connects with only two of our human senses: through our eyes and our ears.
But, when done well, it clearly influences our other senses and truly moves us emotionally.
Beyond its specific craft and technical character, film is meant to be experienced by crowds of people. That crowd may have their eyes glued to a giant screen, a soundscape enveloping them and coursing through their ears as they sit together in a dark theater.
Or, these days, the film may find its audience via their favorite home setups and devices, the people scattered throughout the world but connected through digital spaces that make the world seem smaller and communities seem more expansive.
And film editing is one of the most essential components of filmmaking that shapes cinematic projects the most. Its power and influence on any film cannot be overstated.

A R Mavero. Totally agree! Editing is where a film really comes to life, it shapes the story, the emotion, and how we experience it, whether in a theater or at home.
A R Mavero. Cyrus Sales I am so happy to have others in agreement that editing is what makes a film comes to life.
