On Writing : What’s a line you’ve written that still makes you think, “Damn… I did that”? by Kat Spencer

What’s a line you’ve written that still makes you think, “Damn… I did that”?

It doesn't have to be published. Just something that really struck you. It's okay to brag here. We won't mind.

I like this line...

You know…

When the hand is wounded, the eyes are the first to cry.

And when the eyes cry,

that same injured hand will reach up...

wiping away the tears —

without ever complaining about its own pain.

She pauses, looking deep into him.

That’s how love works,

Real love.

It hurts… but it still reaches out.

This stumped the shit out of me so bad. I can't believe I don't have a favorite line or piece of my own work I favor the most.

Let me think.

Oh, ok I at least have something recent. This joke is so stupid, but it made me laugh so hard that I had to include it in my latest feature. I don't know why I found it so funny.

"Want to hear a riddle?"

"Sir, you're drinking an open container. Please leave my Uber or I will call the police."

"What gets wetter as it dries?"

"....what?"

"A towel, dumbass."

Hi, Kat Spencer. Here's the first action line of a Holiday/Comedy/Crime script I'm rewriting: "No Christmas decorations. Just a worn-down complex decorated with crime."

Kat Spencer

Love them all! Thanks for sharing!

You're welcome, Kat Spencer. Thanks. What's something that really struck you?

I don't have lines, but I do have scenes I feel that way about. I have way too many books to remember lines.
