Hi everyone,
I'm Alexander. A screenwriter based in Malta.
My main project right now is a coming-of-age drama set in Malta, following a trans teenager navigating identity, family, and first love against the backdrop of a small, tightly-knit island community. It's restrained where a lot of shows in this space go for the obvious beat. Just character, silence, and the small costs people pay to be seen or not seen.
Alongside that, I'm developing a standalone TV series (Cover Story) and a couple of feature-length pilots, and I write with an eye toward slow-burn, character-first storytelling, the kind of thing that trusts an audience to sit with quiet before it earns the loud moments.
I joined Stage 32 to connect with other writers and producers who care about that same kind of restraint, and to learn more about how to actually get character-driven, identity-centered work in front of the right rooms. Genuinely happy to read for others too — always keen to trade notes with people working in similar territory (coming-of-age, ensemble drama, anything trying to say something true without saying it too loudly).

Your coming-of-age project sounds interesting, Alexander. The Malta setting and your focus on restrained, character-driven storytelling could give it a distinctive voice. Best of luck with the project and your other work!
