Here it is, another "Introduce Yourself Weekend". And, as per usual, I present a challenge (yes, we're going to DO IT AGAIN): Figure out the theme for my post, and you win points (which, can be redeemed for bragging rights). This one might be a little easy, so I'm awarding five points to the first one who can identify the theme. So, you CAN'T WAIT TOO LONG, or someone else will get the points. Good luck!
I'm Doug Kayne, an award-winning improv comedian, writer, actor, teacher, and all around smart-ass based in Los Angeles (where me and all the CALIFORNIA GIRLS are CALIFORNIA DREAMIN' of fame, fortune, and freedom). By the way, that's Kayne, not Kanye. The second one...THAT'S NOT ME. Obviously, still hoping to MAKE IT BIG in show biz -- my MAMA SAYS it will happen one day!
I'm a member of the unscripted comedy trio Those Four Misfits (www.ThoseFourMisfits.com). We've had the good fortune of emerging from the Covid SHUT DOWNs (which felt like FOREVER) with live shows and all sorts of video sketches on our YouTube page (https://www.youtube.com/@thosefourmisfits6017/videos). I'M WAITING FOR THE DAY when OUR TEAM can break through and get more recognition and success.
I've had somewhat early success in writing, with my first screenplay, "Romantic Comedy 101" being a made-for-TV movie back in 2002. Currently, I'm still in the chaos of pre-production for a couple of teaser scenes for my pitch for the sci-fi comedy series Jane Hopkins and I wrote, "Going Commander". In addition, I recently completed writing a horror short, "Chips the Clown", and I'm co-writing a spec script for a live-action version of the 1980s cartoon "Thundarr the Barbarian". Will update more on this when I GET AROUND to completing these.
I've appeared in theatrical productions, web series, short films, and a feature film I had a key scene in is currently in the post-production stage. I'm also a director and participant in The Playground, another improv group through Joy Theatre, where I've taught, written, and directed.
ALL I WANT TO DO is be able to work with all sorts of really cool, creative people, helping their visions reach the small and large screen. Feel free to reach out if we can collaborate! I'm sure we'll have a GOOD TIME working together.
Wishing everyone a happy, safe, and WONDERFUL upcoming 4TH OF JULY.
