The Odyssey and the iMax process

This is a fascinating video about the iMax process used in Christopher Nolan’s film, The Odyssey.

I simply wanted to share it with the community, because it’s so amazing.

What are your thoughts about it? Other than it’s not affordable for indie filmmakers.

I’m going to see the film on the 22nd July, so I’ll let you know what I think about the film after that.

Amanda Toney hi Amanda, I must admit that my social media feeds were full of negative reviews of the film and so I was a little trepidatious of seeing it. I even saw one today by a famous British historian criticising Nolan for the lack of strong women in the film. A shrug of disbelief here in Bristol UK!

I went to see it with my son, a lover of Homer’s work and a friend visiting us from New Zealand and equally a lover of Homer. The theatre was packed, which was great to experience and boy, I was not disappointed at all. I had to wonder if the critics understand filmmaking or indeed Homer’s epic.

Matt Damon, what can I say? He delivers yet again, but for me it was Anne Hathaway and Samantha Morton who caught my attention, not to forget Charlize Theron.

The cinematography, music, set and costume designs were wonderful and there was such a great momentum, that we all at the end said to each other, that it was the shortest 3 hour film that we’d ever seen. I thought it was beautifully paced.

Have you seen it Amanda? What did you think?
