Cinematography : Lights I Love by Michael Fitzer

Lights I Love

I don't know how often I'll do this, but let's pretend this is the first in a series of posts called (drumroll please):

"Lights I Love."

The Creamsource SpaceX 1200W - RBGAW Color LED is such a handy piece of gear for any number of situations. It delivers in a compact circular form factor with an array of six powerful LEDs. While it isn't made specifically for outdoor situations, that's kind of when I like to deploy it. At the right distance, the 1200W gives great shape to subjects, even in bright sunlight.

This photo is from a recent shoot where we were filming at a number of exterior locations over three days, all of which were quite sunny (I would have preferred a few clouds tbh), and we were able to rely on this baby as our close-distance key for almost every setup. It kept the shape and intensity consistent on every shot. With a solid output, great shape, and CRI of 95 at 3200 and 5600.

While no light is the perfect light for every situation, I do find myself loading this one onto the truck any chance I get.

What are some of your favorite lights on the market today?

Michael Fitzer, For me and my husband, Quasar Science’s lights have been lifesavers time and time again. They’re so versatile, easy to transport, and really well made. We’ve used them for everything from soft key fills to hiding practicals in tight spaces, and they’ve saved us in so many unexpected ways over the years. Whether you’re working in a studio or out on location, those tubes are like Swiss Army knives for lighting setups.

Love the Quasars! I have a box full of 4', 2' and 1' tubes. Maybe that will be my next post! LOL!

They're SO useful, Michael Fitzer!
