Animated series is an evergreen genre that, in success, can yield a show that lasts years, or even decades. If you’ve done the work on your animated series idea and have the chance to pitch to buyers, how do you make sure you’re taking advantage of the opportunity? While there are several basic guidelines that apply to pitching regardless of format or genre, you often have to tailor your pitch for it to have the maximum impact.
There are a few unique things to consider when pitching an animated show, such as making sure you know which subgenre of animation your show fits into, or whether or not to include concept art. What materials do you send pre and post pitch? And most importantly, whether you’re in a physical room or a virtual one, how do you nail the flow of pitch itself, to relay your concept and keep the execs engaged and interested? You’ll want to know the right terminologies that execs use, what their expectations are, and what questions they may ask during the pitch so when the opportunity comes along, you can put your best foot forward.
