Animation : Great character design vs great character writing by Kevin Jackson

Kevin Jackson Great Question! A characters design is important. But, if the audience can't connect with the character, there is a much bigger issue at work here. This is simply my opinion, but the best characters are the ones we the viewers connect with most.

The Iron Giant is a perfect example of this. Aestetically very simple design, but was able to capture the hearts of millions by showing true humility in the one place people refused to look.

I think both are important, but I think an unforgettable personality is more important, Kevin Jackson. And I think a reader/audience will remember the character more because of the personality.
