I've realized that lots of people and even filmmakers don't take animation seriously and don't see ot as a tool to create emotional, meaningful or suspenseful stories and films. Most people just think that animation is a tool explicitly for dumb, silly cartoons like SpongeBob SquarePants or Looney Tunes.
What do you guys think of it? Do you think this is true?

Absolutely. Personally, people think I'm a kid when I watch an animated film. Like, "He's an idiot! What's he watching? Stupid stuff!" But I don't care. I see animation as a source of inspiration for creating my own manga. And besides, these days, all the kids are crazy about it. If you think animation is lame, I recommend you go see "GOAT." You'll change your mind.

Josiah Cosgrove I think it depends on the person and how much knowledge they have about the industry and what consumers like. I think for the average person it may seem silly and dumb but for those who are educated and understand the history of animation and where it is headed the statement becomes obsolete.
From my experience I've come across countless individual who simply aren't educated in animation and simply don't know any better.
