About Tony

The family black sheep, Tony escaped the crushing sameness of small-town life with his nose pressed against the screen. Wilder and Altman movies melted his developing brain. Nobody pays to watch films, so he wrote them. He swiped hours from directing live TV, shooting docs, industrials, and shorts to pour visions onto paper. Early scripts sucked. He kept at it. Today, Tony writes full time, ghostwrites, analyzes others’ screenplays, and judges competitions. He still lives part time in the same small town — nose to the glass — the black sheep who didn’t fit still lives in movies. Reader: AFF plus several other screenwriting competitions Analyst providing notes for several Hollywood firms plus private clientele. Independent Spirit Award voting member NYC IFP staff photographer imdb credits Hi Tony, I actually followed your advices and went with Screenplay Gurus services and well that went amazing! I had a great review and just need to do a polishing (frenchie overhere so I've got a few things to learn yet). The script is now ready to go! I just wanted to thank you, you know sometimes just a message like yours can truly help. Take care, Thomas Guyot Pamela Bolinder, Screenwriting Lounge Post: I highly recommend Tony S. as a script consultant (I hope that's okay, Tony). He gives succinct script notes that burrow straight to the heart of pothole issues and offers suggestions for improvement and he's affordable. Your script has to sing before you promote it. I have read some comments here on Stage 32 that tout they do not use consultants. Careful, having another set of eyes may be what kicks your script over the top! If you are someone who has an arsenal of well-written scripts and have not achieved critical acclaim you might want to throw a few dollars in that direction! Tony S. is your man. His fees are reasonable and will give you solid advice (sharp as a whip) and then you'll be on your way. Brian Elias, Screenwriting Lounge Post: Guys, I can't tell you how good this experience was. As a writer/artist-- ever just wish you could meet someone or show someone your work who just gets it??? Well, Tony S is that guy. He just got it! His insight into what I was attempting to do was disarming, like he saw right through me, but in the best possible way. His notes were constructive, his criticism fair and his overall tone was beyond encouraging! Basically, I'm saying he's the best. Unique traits: A toilet roll under kinda guy. President Svengoolie Fan Club, New York Chapter. Eating Twizzlers, ripping the "Do No Remove Under Penalty Of Law" tags from mattresses; walking backwards, too many to list

  • THE WEIGHT OF EFFORTLESSNESS

THE WEIGHT OF EFFORTLESSNESS Budget: $1M - $5M | Thriller A cynical actress who resists, then surrenders to the charm of a Jaws-obsessed manipulator, discovers the fantasy he calls love is a trap she must escape — or disappear in his delusion. Lookbook What readers are saying: "Wow! You hit this one out of the park!" Blacklist: "The meta elements are well-executed/clever/creative--even right off the bat, in the first act.  This project is consistently unique, and the dark comedy writing is pretty memorable/impressive ... This writer has an engaging/original voice ... professional-level talent ..." "Your facility with descriptions and the way you choose to lay them out is some of the best I’ve read.  Great opening visuals!  - Totally jump off the page. I really enjoyed the stylistic visual choices ...  "I'm thirty pages in and you're clearly a writer (which I don't think can be taught, so well done to your parents or god or whatever) .. "I find your style engaging. Many of the screenplays I read seem to be written as if the events were happening in 'real life', so it was refreshing to read one that felt like an actual movie.  I flew through the first half of the script. Was very tense and exciting and I read 40 pages when I had only planned on reading ten ... "... you have a great, economical way of conveying universal emotions and gestures in a few simple words. This is difficult to pull off and one of the strengths of the script.  The fourth wall break is dangerous territory, but you pull that off too." "... a remarkably well-crafted and intelligent script across all its elements. Its deliberate complexity is a strength, making it a challenging but ultimately rewarding piece of storytelling.
