About Sara

SARA HAMILTON is a development executive, producer and consultant with more than 25 years of experience in marketing and branding, film and media, strategy and business development.

She has worked with teams around the world — from large global companies, mid-sized advertising agencies and small tech start-ups to nonprofit organizations, production companies, corporations and small studios — to develop and produce innovative, impactful, award-winning marketing communication campaigns, corporate and commercial video productions, and narrative and documentary series and features.

Sara developed and produced the award-winning feature documentary “TIME ZERO: The Last Year of Polaroid Film”, which screened at AFI Docs, DOC NYC and other festivals around the world, and is in international distribution and on major streaming platforms.

Sara is the Head of Development and Production Services for GREENLIT, an AI-enabled back-office solution for the media and entertainment industry that simplifies complex workflows for streamlined development, film financing, production and distribution. She’s also an EP and consulting producer on several film and series with studios and partners, including Indigo Reign Films, The Cathedral Collective, and Riveting River Entertainment; and she works as a lead producer, production designer and location manager for commercials and corporate videos with production companies, including Ambient House Productions.

Sara is a frequent panelist and moderator, recently speaking at The Impact Lounge at the Sundance Film Festival and the Film USA Pavilion during the Cannes Film Festival. She has developed, curated and moderated both in-person and virtual panels for film festivals, organizations and events, including Catalyst Story Institute, the Lake Placid Film Festival and Greenlight Women.

Sara is a dedicated advocate for the production industry. She’s on the Board of Directors and leads the Fiscal Sponsorship Team for FilmNorth, she’s an active member of the SIE Society, and she’s on the Board of Advisors for EntertainMint. Sara was a founding member of the Minnesota Film Alliance, a nonprofit group that instituted the state’s first production tax credit incentive and established the film office. During this time, Sara also earned a certification as a film commissioner through the AFCI, and she established the Driftless Film Office to attract productions to the region.

Sara earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism & Communications from the University of Illinois, and degree in Design & Advertising from the Academy of Art in Chicago. She has achieved certifications through leading institutions, and she is currently enrolled in the NYU Tisch School of the Arts “Business of Entertainment” program.

Unique traits: Background in advertising, branding, marketing and design; earned film commissioner certification through AFCI.org in 2022; has worked for nonprofit organizations and is an advocate of diversity (including neurodiversity) in the entertainment industry; independent filmmaker. Throughout her career, Sara has developed and produced documentary and narrative features and series, corporate and commercial video productions, and international marketing communication campaigns. She produced the award-winning documentary, TimeZero: The Last Year of Polaroid Film, which was featured at AFI Docs, DOC NYC and festivals around the world and is in international distribution. Sara consults with independent filmmakers and companies to negotiate product placement and brand integration partnerships and strives to effect positive social change by connecting productions with nonprofit organizations to elevate and support causes.
