SYNOPSIS:

Lorenzo "Gonzo" Gilliam, a talented yet notorious left-handed pitcher, struggles to find a permanent team due to his unpredictable behavior. Journalist Rob Prince, infamous for his drug-induced antics, is assigned to cover Lorenzo and his new team, the Philadelphia Phillies. When their paths cross, their misfortunes bring them together, and they embark on a journey through the southern states, searching for purpose and adventure. Along the way, they encounter diverse characters, experiment with various substances, and play baseball in unexpected places. However, their trip takes a significant turn when they meet a young baseball prodigy, Mario, who is battling a rare disease that impedes his career. Can Lorenzo and Rob help Mario overcome his obstacles and reignite their own passion for baseball, leading them back to the big leagues?
