A rising filmmaker turns her fractured love story and her grandmother's secret past into a daring film
- unaware that her teenage son is uncovering the very truths she's spent her life trying to forget.
SYNOPSIS:
Shila, a brilliant and sensitive young woman from a Bulgarian village, falls in love at sixteen with
Mark - a charming, impulsive man from Berlin. Their summer is filled with tender moments, but when
Mark leaves and his letters stop arriving, Shila is left with a broken heart and one unopened
envelope in a shoebox she hides away.
Years later, Shila becomes the CEO of a successful international AI company. When Mark returns,
asking for a second chance, she agrees. They marry, have a son, Leo, and move to Berlin. But
Mark brings baggage: two ex-wives, a daughter he never mentioned, and looming legal issues. To
protect Leo, Shila leaves him and never looks back.
Now fifteen, Leo finds the unsent letter. His search for answers leads him to his half-sister.
Meanwhile, Shila travels to Los Angeles to pitch a script based on her life. She learns, too late, that
one of the studio execs is Mark's daughter. The personal and the professional collide.
Back in Bulgaria, Shila uncovers her grandmother's hidden journal - a story of forbidden love,
betrayal, and quiet resistance under the Communist regime. Inspired, Shila, Leo, and his half-sister
begin filming a second story: a historical drama rooted in truth, pain, and legacy.
At the film's premiere in Plovdiv's oldest cinema, Mark appears in the shadows. After the screening,
Shila finds a final letter - a quiet, redemptive goodbye. She walks into the night with Leo and her
new-found daughter, humming the melody her grandmother once sang - now reimagined as the
film's haunting final theme.
Some stories are written in silence - until someone dares to speak them aloud.
