1980 - Scarborough, Ontario. As 19 year old tire factory janitor James Carrey prepares for his city's annual locally televised, comedy club stand-up showcase, he's visited by a man in his 60s, claiming to be him from the future, who has only seven days to convince his younger self not to pursue a life of fame.
