When a young girl's mother is taken from her home, she sets out into the wasteland with her two friends in a desperate bid to get her mother back.
SYNOPSIS:
Squirrely elf Zell explores the Wasteland, much to the frustration of her mother, Zlyn. Zlyn is furious with Zell, and the two argue about Zell’s departed father. Zell runs from her mom, and meets with Buck, her best friend, and Allion, Zell’s love interest. Zell shows Buck a secret diagram, which leads Zell to a hidden radio room. Zell accidently turns it on, and which leads The New Empire, led by commander Joyex to their home.
Commander Joyex shoots the chief, Allion’s father, and kidnaps Zlyn, revealing that she was an explorer when she was young. Zell then sets out after her mother and has the idea of trying to use an old airplane to bargain with Joyex for her release.
Allion and Buck join Zell, and as they explore the wasteland, they meet Alvis, a masked elf. Alvis makes a deal with the trio, if they retrieve an item called the Golden Rose for him, he will give them the airplane. Meanwhile, Joyex intends to use Zlyn as a scout, and as a figurehead. He knows that she used to be a very famous adventurer when she was younger and stopped because her husband was killed. Zlyn desperately wants Zell to avoid the life she had, as it was full of danger. But Joyex calls her out on sheltering Zell to a breaking point.
The trio find the Golden Rose, but Zell has doubts. The Golden Rose was used to enslave people in the past, and she fears that will happen to their village. But, with no other choice, they give the Golden Rose back to Alvis. Alvis instructs Selene to guide them to the Airplane. Which is a piece of junk from the old world, and barely works. Zell has a near breakdown from the stress of it all, and blames herself for getting Zlyn captured in the first place. Allion goes to comfort her, and Zell tells her that she is actually a Half Elf, or something close to it. They almost kiss, but New Empire troops capture them.
Thankfully though, with some help from Selene and Buck, they manage to defeat the New Empire troops, and take their gear. Zell has the idea of Allion ‘capturing’ her and taking her right to the New Empire base while Buck focuses on fixing the airplane.
Of course, the moment Zell and Allion get to the base, they are captured immediately. Joyex arrives, and admits he is surprised they even thought that would work. He and Zell talk for a bit, with both of them admitting that they are both fairly similar. But, Joyex goes to kill Zell, but is interrupted when Alvis and his tribe charge in with the Golden Rose. Zlyn manages to escape from her cell, and Zell goes to find her in the chaos.
However, when they meet, Zlyn says they have to kill Joyex to prevent this from ever happening again. Buck arrives in the airplane, and lands. Zlyn goes after Joyex, and Zell follows. Zlyn and Joyex meet in mortal combat, but even after Zell joins in, they are unable to best him. However, Alvis captures an artillery piece and fires on the building where Zell, Zlyn, and Joyex are. Joyex is gone, but Zell is trapped, and the building is collapsing. Selene takes Zlyn away, even as she screams to rescue her daughter. Zell is happy with this, but then Joyex arrives with a knife in hand.
Buck lands, and asks where Zell is, only to be told that she isn’t coming. But then, injured and bloody, but alive, Zell hobbles after them, and they make their way home.

I like the concept, Damon Day. What does "wastes" mean? Wasteland?

Yep! Think Fallout or Mad Max.
Cool. You might want to consider putting "wasteland" instead of "wastes" so readers will know what it is. Unless the wasteland is called "Wastes" in the script. If it's called that, you might want to explain what the "Wastes" is. Briefly.
