A conflicted sixteen year old juggles the needs and wants of her conniving, supermodel girlfriend and her domineering boyfriend at the risk of losing her self-worth.
SYNOPSIS:
Ella, an insecure sixteen year old, arrives with take out food at her ‘supermodel’ girlfriend Kaitlyn’s place, only to be told she looks fat, prompting Ella to press Kaitlyn to pay for her share of the food, and for the bathing suit she bought on Ella’s credit card. To worm out of paying, Kaitlyn accuses Ella of not trusting her, and of being submissive to her boyfriend, Ryan, underscoring a rivalry between him and Kaitlyn for Ella’s affections. Making matters worse, when Ella says she has to leave to meet Ryan, Kaitlyn pulls her in for a surprise selfie in which she looks like a supermodel and Ella “like the poster girl for Fatties Diner”, which, much to Ella’s chagrin, she texts off to Ryan. Justifying her ‘mean girls’ maneuver, she claims that if Ryan really loved Ella, it wouldn’t matter what she looked like.
Stung by the truth, Ella heads off to Ryan’s apartment, where Ryan calls her out for being used by Kaitlyn to buy and deliver food, and to glorify her looks at Ella’s expense, sighting what he calls the ‘fat pig’ selfie of Ella which Kaitlyn had sent him. Justifiably insulted, Ella accuses Ryan of harboring a secret lech for Kaitlyn, which Ryan denies, vowing that he wants only Ella, and, as concerns body image, that he prefers ‘womanly women’. Succumbing to his charms, Ella accepts Ryan’s come-on, but while he is taking a pre-lovemaking shower, his phone (an invite Kaitlyn instantly accepts), and exits the apartment, a stronger and more self-confident person.
