Haunted by the loss of her child, a grieving woman returns to her hometown to search for her missing sister, only to uncover a chilling legend about a cursed forest that demands sacrifices. To break the cycle and save what's left of her family she must confront a malevolent force that feeds on grief.
SYNOPSIS:
Still reeling from the death of her young son, Clara Holloway is called back to her estranged hometown when her sister, Nora, mysteriously vanishes. The rural village is bordered by an ancient forest, a place of dread whispered in childhood tales. Locals speak of The Hollow Ones, a dark and insatiable force that claims those who wander too close, leaving nothing but echoes behind.
As Clara digs deeper, her grief begins to intertwine with the horrors of the legend. She experience disturbing visions of her lost son, shadowy figures among the trees, and the pulsing glow of hollowed-out trunks that seem alive. The closer she gets to the truth, the more the lines blur between Clara's reality and the forest's malevolent influence.
Clara soon discovers that' The Hollow Ones' are no mere myth and that her bloodline has been intertwined with the for generations. Worse still, Nora's disappearance may have been orchestrated in order to satisfy the forest's hunger. Desperate and broken, Clara must confront her own unresolved guilt while choosing whether to offer herself to 'The Hollow Ones' or risk dooming those that she loves to their grasp.
In a harrowing climax, Clara fights through to the literal beating heart of the forest where she soon realises that 'The Hollow Ones' are themselves prisoners being held captive by the town's cult. Clara comes face to face with the cult's leader Margaret and with help from 'The Hollow Ones' they defeat her and the cult.
With the cult defeated 'The Hollow Ones' disappear from the forest. Clara breaks down and in her grief manages to let go of the demons that pursue her. She walks back through the town, now empty, while a sun rises behind her.
The Hollowing is a haunting exploration of grief, guilt and the inescapable pull of the past, blending psychological horror with the relentless dread of folk legend.
