By Colin Carroll

GENRE: Comedy
LOGLINE:

After becoming aware that he’s still single in his forties due to deep seated trust issues, a Calgary based private eye falls for a woman he follows who’s not cheating on her fiancé.

SYNOPSIS:

Private Lies is an R-rated comedy reminiscent of hits like “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” and “Superbad.” The story is about Joel Goodman, a private detective grappling with a mid-life crisis after he realizes he's still single in his 40s due to deep seeded trust issues from his work and childhood.

Joel is hired by Brad to follow his girlfriend Sarah who he suspects is cheating. Joel’s investigation takes an unexpected turn when he discovers that Sarah isn't cheating, but taking a cooking class to surprise her soon-to-be-husband. Infatuated, Joel tells his PI friends who can't believe Sarah isn't cheating and think Joel's only interested in her because he thinks she's the white whale: someone who is faithful and pure. Joel joins the cooking class to dig deeper and soon Sarah strikes a deal with him—she will help Joel with his cooking if she can ride along with him on some cases. As their friendship blossoms, Joel PI buddies worry he’s crossing a line and start to follow them with hilarious results. Joel faces a dilemma: should he reveal the truth about their initial meeting and his feelings or choose to walk away from Sarah as her wedding day approaches?

This R-rated comedy is filled with a cast of fun and crazy characters, bad language and nudity that will surely make it the next breakout R-rated comedy hit of the summer. Get out of the way "American Pie," "40 Year Old Virgin," and "Wedding Crashers", and make way for Private Lies.
