Suspended from school for fighting, socially awkward, 11-year-old Jessica Fortune accompanies her Mum, a house cleaner, on an unusual contract cleaning for a reclusive magical artefacts collector, and is introduced to an extraordinary enchanted world, in danger of collapse unless she reunites a pair of cursed orbs to save her unlikely new best friend, herself and both their worlds, from vanishing forever.

SYNOPSIS:

11-year-old Jessica Fortune, despite her awesome name, doesn't do people. She's socially awkward, has very few, if any actual friends, and is unimpressed by pretty much everything. Suspended from school for arguing with the ‘clique' group of girls, she is resigned to spending her days at home, staring out of the window at the oddly unseasonable weather, and generally trying to avoid people, which suits her fine! But when she accompanies her mum, Jacqueline, a house cleaner, on a new contract at a large house, she begins to explore, and, by some unusual stroke of coincidence, encounters the reclusive owner, Victor Fuzzlewig. All is not what it appears to be though, as Victor has a major issue!

‘The Penny Rose', cursed to forever be trapped on stormy seas, keeps splashing her each time she gets near it, but it may hold the answer. But Victor can't touch the Orb; the legend stipulates only those of non-magical hands may touch it. Time is against Victor and Jessica. If not reunited, the Orb's power will threaten to release everything in the warehouse, into Jessica's world, causing Victor, the house, and even Jessica herself, to disappear!

Discovering a world of people that don't judge her background, her gender, abilities or who she is as a person, is something Jessica always dreamed of, but never expected, and one she's not prepared to leave.
