Lights, Camera, Mistletoe is a romantic comedy in which a no-nonsense, Christmas cynic, single mom driven to succeed in the film business as a Screenwriter to provide a stable home for her young daughter after a painful divorce rebuffs the attention of a colleague who sets out to prove to her that love, and the magic of Christmas can heal her wounded heart. What happens when risking a broken heart is the price of healing it?
SYNOPSIS:
ANITA MARTEL (30’s) is a single mom determined to make it to the top of the film industry as a highly sought after Screenwriter, and provide a stable home for her daughter SARAH (12) after a messy divorce with her deadbeat EX. Being the sole support of Sarah has forced Anita to view life in practical, survival terms leaving little room for Anita to believe in romance, and least of all Christmas magic. Those notions get challenged when Anita is offered a shot at rewriting the script for, Enchanted Christmas already in full production due to a miscast actor (GREG SMYTHE, 60’s) who can’t remember his lines. Anita turns down the offer for the rewrite given her cynicism about Christmas until the production’s Audio/Soundman RANDALL BARROW (30’s), a self-confessed “kid with a new sled” about Christmas calls her out on being a professional writer deserving of her big break. Randall promises to be Anita’s private Christmas source to infuse her with Christmas spirit so she can write the script and keep it “Christmassy”. Anita relents and is woken the next morning by Randall who takes Anita and Sarah on a Christmas Tree expedition to, Reindeer Tree Farm run by his elderly friend, Christopher. Anita slowly drops her walls to Randall in the glow of the Christmas tree hunt. But wounds run deep, and when Sarah asks why her dad left them Anita resolves not to risk a second heart break that could hurt Sarah. Anita writes a scene for the nuptial couple (SAMUEL AND CHARLOTTE) in, Enchanted Christmas which reflects her personal pain with her EX, and distances herself from Randall determined not to let history repeat itself. Randall accepts her decision and gives her space, but quits the production and takes the reins of Reindeer Tree Farm when Christopher suffers a heart attack. Meanwhile the film’s Producer (SHANE LARSON, 50’s) offers Anita a second project to write in the New Year set in the tropics. Her future seems bright yet her heart is dim with regret that Randall, her Christmas ‘muse’ has left her. In a last ditch effort Anita concocts a scheme to woo Randall back which back fires until Sarah instigates a chance meeting with Randall where Anita must make a choice

Cheers Nathaniel! Thank you!
Hi Gary, this sounds like a cute Rom-Come idea! My advice for your logline would be to make it more concise. You don't need to mention the name of the film in the logline, and your description of the main character is a bit lengthy. I think starting the logline off, "A cynical, no non-sense single mom" is enough to show how her character might need some reminding of the magic of Christmas.
Thanks Molly! I appreciate you putting thought into my logline and ow to better streamline it. This is great advice! Thanks!
