SYNOPSIS:

A high school student sneaks off to South Africa during spring break to avoid going to Fresno and to bring her grade up in her film class.

Claire a high school student who wants to be a filmmaker earns another average grade on her assignment and is given an assignment to do over spring break to try and bring her grade up. Although Claire doesn’t want to do an assignment over the break it’s the only way to bring her grade up. Claire’s teacher Stacy knows how much filmmaking means to Claire and feels that she can do a lot better than what she turns in. Claire’s friends Katie and Susie try to convince her that Stacy’s trying to help her but Claire thinks otherwise.

Her parents Josh and Tracy inform Claire and her older sister Kelly that they will be spending their spring break in Fresno once again. Though Claire and Kelly are not on board with it, they don’t have a choice. With that Claire tries to work things out with Stacy but gets nowhere.

The night before they leave, Claire steals Kelly’s passport and books a flight to South Africa. Her family doesn’t notice that she’s gone until the next morning and try to book a flight to South Africa. However, they struggle to do so because all the flights are booked.

While in South Africa Claire learns about Molly, a filmmaker who disappeared while working on a project. They end up meeting when Claire gets lost while on a safari and runs into her. Molly then agrees to help Claire with her project if she helps her with hers. Claire makes a lot of animal friends while in South Africa who kept Molly company while she worked.

They then come across some poachers who want to kill all the animals, but Claire and Molly won’t go down without a fight. After fighting the poachers Claire’s family finally finds her and decide not to be too hard on her because they begin to realize why she did what she did.

When Claire returns to school she shows her project to the class and gets an A+ and a surprise visit from Molly who gives her a copy of her project that she helped her make.
