When Lani, a washed-out hula master is mandated to perform community service for her driving under the influence conviction, she reluctantly teaches hula again at a Hawaii female youth correctional facility where she and her students must connect with the storytelling essence of hula in order to overcome their inner demons and a broken penal system that are about to consume them.

SYNOPSIS:

In Hula Magic, Lani dives deeper into the essence of hula, its unique form of storytelling, which awakens her and her hula students at the female youth correctional facility with a sense of purpose as they tell their stories of hardship in their dance.

With this awakening, Lani addresses her fierce temper, intense competitiveness, and greed that drove her previous hula students away and caused the downfall of her award-winning hula halau.

Likewise, her hula students at the female youth correctional facility confront their own inner demons fueled by their dysfunctional upbringing. ****

Together, Lani and her hula students at the female youth correctional facility are able to not only positively influence each other but even powerful leaders of a broken penal system.
