BARRIO BLITZ
By Samuel Contreras

GENRE: Sports Drama, Family
LOGLINE:

Half-brothers vie for their father’s attention, an iron-willed football coach in East L.A. who faces his toughest opponent after an on-field tragedy: overcoming his own obsession with winning and moving up the coaching ladder to rebuild his fractured family and earn back the trust of his estranged wife and wayward son.

SYNOPSIS:

In the fiercely proud neighborhood of 1990s East Los Angeles, Coach Louie is a neighborhood legend — a tough, hard-driven high school football coach who views the gridiron as the ultimate test of manhood. Consumed by a relentless obsession to reach his individual coaching goals, Louie has sidelined his family. His tension-filled household is shared with Espie, his loyal "coach's wife" and his two teenage sons, half-brothers Louie, Jr. and Anthony, who battle for Dad's approval. While one son flourishes as the star athlete under his father's grueling expectations, the other is a sensitive, unathletic artist who feels entirely alienated by Louie’s tough ways and begins drifting onto the dangerous, fast-moving streets of the barrio.

The fragile dynamic shatters completely when an unimaginable tragedy strikes on the football field.

Drowning in grief, the family unit disintegrates. Louie ultimately fights to save his marriage and a son who has turned to the streets. Driven by a volatile blend of teen humor and profound emotional stakes, the story follows a broken man learning that his greatest legacy isn't measured in moving up the coaching ranks but rather in the hard-fought act of earning back his family's trust.
