SYNOPSIS:
Jason Hayes, a news producer and single father, spends his morning off at an amusement park with his five year old daughter Callie. While at the park, Jason’s phone rings. One of his reporters has had a family emergency and won’t be able to cover what promises to be a boring science press conference later that day. The reporter reluctantly asks Jason if he’d be willing to step in and attend the conference in his place. Jason agrees. Jason attends the event, but leaves prematurely - just before the three scientists holding the conference reveal that they've uncovered evidence of a devastating global conspiracy lead by Senator Cindra Cole. The scientists then shoot themselves in front of the trapped members of the press, in a desperate attempt to bring attention to the conspiracy and its consequences. Before boarding a train home, Jason sees news coverage of the tragedy and realizes that he's the only person to have left the conference with an envelope supposedly containing proof of the conspiracy. Jason heads to the police station to turn in the envelope – but before he can enter, he's confronted by Darger, an acquaintance from college who's now part of an underground survival group. Darger had been watching the live press coverage of the science conference with his group when he spotted Jason leaving with the envelope. He tells Jason that the FBI has already confiscated the envelopes from the other members of the press, and asks him to come back to meet his group so they can give him more information. Jason, defying his cautious nature, goes along. Darger takes Jason to the group’s makeshift inner city headquarters. After introductions are made, the group’s members explain to Jason that for several years, they’ve known that the elites - all occultists - are planning to use a scalar weapon to decimate the majority of the population in order to build a new world with a smaller, more sustainable population. The group’s wild claims are too much for Jason to take seriously. He leaves, laughing at them before walking out. Jason returns to his normal life, though things seem out of place. He's questioned by the FBI, his story on the press conference is killed, he's offered a promotion – and construction crews seem to be watching him and Callie – though he may just be paranoid. When Agent Ashby confronts Jason about a hidden website that was accessed shortly after the press conference, he has no explanation. Jason contacts Darger and learns that while he was with the group, they covertly opened the envelope and scanned its contents. Jason is furious. Darger convinces Jason to join the group at The Perch, a mountain retreat where members of a larger network gather intelligence on secret societies and their plans. At The Perch, Jason meets Sandrine, a former model who now heads the group. She tells Jason of their plan to raid Parson's Cove, a resort where the elites meet annually to perform occult rituals. They ask Jason to join them, bringing along mobile broadcast gear and setting up a live telecast that would reveal the elites for what they are. Feeling he's being used and frustrated that the group can't clear his name, Jason turns them down. Upon getting back home, Jason tries to go on with his life. But when he gets a call saying that Callie has been kidnapped from her day care, his life is shattered. The authorities have no leads. Fearing that the elites have taken Callie as retribution, Jason returns to the group's headquarters just as they prepare to leave for their raid on Parson's Cove. Jason takes along the mobile broadcast gear and sets out with the group, determined to find Callie and bring her safely home.
