After discovering she has telekinetic abilities passed down from her ancestors, a Japanese woman becomes entangled in an international terrorist plot and must work with U.S. forces along with her long lost, twin brother to prevent certain disaster. During her cathartic journey she learns the key to her survival lies with the ancient art of origami.

SYNOPSIS:

People love martial arts actions movies. They have been a major draw since Bruce Lee became an instant movie star with classics such as “Enter The Dragon”. People also become addicted to engrossing characters and their journeys such as in Game Of Thrones. And people are obsessed with mystery and intrigue, such as The DaVinci Code.

Imagine creating a series that is a combination of Jet Li level martial arts action, character arcs along the lines of Game Of Thrones, with the sophistication and mystery of The DaVInci Code. That is what we created with Origami, The Valley Fold!

Similar to the series “Into The Badlands” and “Heroes”, Origami will be a hit with ages 16-60, as there is something for everyone. It has International appeal due to the story spanning Asia and North America, with characters that are American, Chinese and Japanese.

Our protagonist is Tamiko. A Japanese/American woman in her early thirties. Tamiko has a special telekinetic ability, the Kanji, that has been passed down from generation to generation since the 1790’s. Tamiko was sent to L.A. when she was just an infant to save her from criminals, in particular the Yakuza, trying to kidnap her to use her special telekinetic abilities as a terrorist weapon. Tamiko learns about her family’s history, how to develop her kanji and facing an unknown nemesis as the first season progresses.

Tamiko has a twin brother, Q who still lives in Japan, although they have never had any contact with each other. Since the Yakuza cannot find Tamiko, Q is then kidnapped by the Yakuza. The Yakuza crime family is led by Nakamora, a wickedly brilliant and ruthlessly ambitious woman with a rabid thirst for domination, power and revenge. Through the first season it is revealed that Nakamora also comes from a similar lineage as Tamiko and Q. This has ensured a transcendental connection for the two competing families spanning over two-hundred years.

Over the last thirty years, the Yakuza have developed a serum to ignite and trans-mutate the people with this power such as Tamiko and Q, into a ticking time bomb of destruction, more powerful than a nuclear weapon. Nakamora first attempted to harness the power of the kanji, by kidnapping Tamiko and Q’s parents in 1989. However the first experiment goes terribly wrong resulting in the death of Tamiko and Q’s parents. Nakamora then turns to locating Tamiko and Q all while climbing the bloody ladder of the Yakuza.

The art of origami ties into the story early on as the Hogosha, a secret society of individuals whose responsibility it was to protect the people that have these telekinetic abilities, used cryptic origami shapes and symbols to communicate with one another throughout time.

As time progressed, scientists, engineers, mathematicians and eventually physicists developed numerous formulas, structures, theorems, and aerospace-technologies that improved billions of lives the world over through origami.

Enter Doctor Koivu; a Chinese physicist, who has become the recognized world leader in this field.

Maki, a Japanese woman that works as Dr. Koivu’s assistant is being controlled by Nakamora through Maki’s father, Akira. Akira is Nakamora’s top Captain in the Yakuza. Nakamora sends Maki to infiltrate Dr. Koivu’s inner circle, allowing the Yakuza access to Dr. Koivu and his colleagues.

Chaos ensues when Maki is instructed to kill one of Dr. Koivu’s colleagues and lure Dr. Koivu into Nakamora’s Lair to be abducted. As the series progresses, we learn that Maki also possesses the power of the kanji and her powers rival that of Tamiko, the primary protagonist in the series, making Maki Tamiko’s counterpart. Will Maki continue to do Nakamora’s bidding or will she become strong enough to break away from her family’s criminal past to become her own woman?

Adding another layer to Nakamora’s history, we learn that Akira’s father was involved with Nakamora romantically. Akira’s father, Niko met an untimely and mysterious demise, which Nakamora has always been very ambiguous about. Akira suspects that Nakamora had his father killed to eliminate him from preventing Nakamora’s rise. Now being Nakamora’s right hand, can Akira finally figure out what happened to his father, all while attempting to protect his daughter from Nakamora’s sadistic grip?

Tamiko’s character arc takes her from being shy and meek, but extremely intelligent to a powerful woman that is able to face her own family’s history with the kanji bloodline while working non-stop to save her brother from the grips of Nakamora’s crime family. This creates an interesting chess game between the two families.

Unlike a typical super hero movie, audiences will be able to relate to the characters in Origami who are normal people just going about their lives. They are unaware of the strength and value of these powers, as well as the danger they are in for having them, until Nakamora comes to prominence.

This element differentiates “Origami” from other shows in that we get to witness the development of the character’s powers, the different levels they can obtain and how all of that intertwines in the history of discovering their origins and what part they play in this complex struggle for power and awakening! Partner that with characters being incredibly complex and skilled in martial arts, and this has the making for a very exciting and uniquely thrilling series!

Spanning two continents and cultures, America and Asia, the intricate and immensely complex nature of origami applied to physics, mathematics and engineering, provide the back drop to a story containing powerful characters and a narrative arc that becomes more revealing and paradoxically mysterious with each episode.
