SYNOPSIS:

Control is a ghost story, a high school story, a revenge story. Mean Girls meets Ghost Town and Poltergeist. It’s a story about a boy. A dead boy. Joshua. A psychopath who murdered his family. Confined to an Asylum. An attempted escape leads to fire which wipes out the hospital and himself. It’s a story about a girl, Shannon. Newly arrived, with her family, in the community built on the remains of the Asylum. Still distraught after the death of their beloved father and husband. She attracts Joshua’s attentions. Her time at school starts badly and gets worse. She crosses paths with Eve, the alpha girl. Joshua watches. Invisible to all. During a soccer game, Shannon shows up Eve who retaliates and is sent off. Eve and her Posse ambush Shannon and punch her to the ground as a warning. Joshua materialises before Shannon. She asks for his help. He realises she can see him and give him physical form. Joshua confesses to Shannon that he is dead. They experiment with her control over him. Then begin to plot her revenge against Eve. They grow close. Asleep, Shannon’s control fades. Joshua reverts to spirit form. His hatred burns as deep as the scars on the blackened flesh of his true form. He yearns for control over himself and the power it would bring. Joshua carries out Shannon’s revenge. Simple tricks at first. Then Joshua’s actions take a deadly turn. Shannon and Joshua celebrate her revenge on Eve. They kiss and fall into bed. Make love. This simple act transfers Shannon’s power to Joshua. He has the control he has so long yearned. With it he will burn the world as it burned him. Joshua enacts his wicked pleasure on those he feels have crossed Shannon. At night, the spirit of her dead father visits her. Vows to protect her. Forever. Shannon learns of Joshua’s actions, becomes concerned for her family. Joshua appears before them. Threatens mother and sister, before Shannon agrees to be his. He readies her to join him in death. As Joshua is about to cut out her heart Shannon’s father appears. She is able to grant him power. He restrains Joshua. Joshua’s victims appear. Tear pieces from him, revealing the burnt remains of his soul. His sister is last. She tears out his heart. As it crumbles to dust in her hand, Joshua’s presence on earth crumbles away. The ghosts are free from Joshua’s bondage and pass on to the other world. Shannon’s father remains long enough to say the goodbyes that the family has wanted for so long. Finally, they are safe.
